Italian Whites to Discover

Italy’s white wines are wonderfully diverse, and our selection reflects that variety. From crisp and refreshing everyday favourites to more expressive regional bottles, each wine has been chosen to complement the flavours of our Italian kitchen. Whether you prefer something light and citrusy or a wine with a little more body and character, these wines showcase the freshness and elegance that Italian whites are known for.

One example is the Vermentino Costamolino from Argiolas, a Sardinian white that captures the bright character of the Mediterranean coast. This wine is fresh, dry and aromatic, often showing delicate floral notes alongside citrus and stone fruit flavours, with a crisp finish that makes it particularly enjoyable alongside seafood, pasta dishes and lighter starters.

Classic Italian Reds

Italy’s red wines offer an incredible range of styles, from bright and fruit-forward to deep and complex. Many of the reds on our list come from traditional Italian grape varieties that have been cultivated for generations. These wines pair beautifully with the rich flavours of Italian cuisine — from tomato-based sauces and slow-cooked ragù to grilled meats and hearty pasta dishes.

For example, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is a wonderfully approachable red, known for its dark berry flavours and gentle spice. Meanwhile, wines such as Chianti Riserva from Tuscany offer a little more structure and depth, with savoury notes of cherry and herbs that complement classic Italian dishes perfectly. At the fuller end of the spectrum, Barolo — often referred to as the “king of Italian wines” — brings complex aromas and powerful character, making it a memorable choice for a special meal.

Sparkling & Aperitif Wines

Italy is also famous for its sparkling wines, which are perfect for starting a meal or celebrating a special occasion. A glass of Prosecco, with its crisp apple and pear notes, is always a refreshing choice. For something richer and more complex, Franciacorta offers a traditional-method Italian sparkling wine with fine bubbles and subtle toasted flavours, making it a wonderful accompaniment to an aperitif or lighter dishes.
